Com­pre­hen­sive Trail­er In­sur­ance

With Com­pre­hen­sive Trail­er In­sur­ance, we have put to­geth­er an in­sur­ance that cov­ers all the main dam­ages that oc­cur to trail­ers, and col­lapsi­ble campers. Liq­uid­i­ty be­long­ing to the mo­bile home can be in­clud­ed in the in­sur­ance.

In­sur­ance overview

The Com­pre­hen­sive Trail­er In­sur­ance cov­ers dam­age to a trail­er, e.g. car­a­vans, col­lapsi­ble campers, horse trail­ers and tent trail­ers. The in­sur­ance is valid both in Ice­land and when trav­el­ing in Eu­rope for up to 90 days.

The in­sur­ance cov­ers

  • Damage caused by the collision of the vehicle pulling the mobile home
  • Fire in the mobile home.
  • Damage due to theft if the mobile home has been locked with a suitable safety device.
  • Damage caused by storms.
  • Damage due to broken windows.

The in­sur­ance dose not com­pen­sate:

  • If driving off-road
  • if driving over unbridged rivers or streams
  • Damage caused by silt or other loose minerals
  • Damage due to defects, wear and tear or inadequate maintenance

What af­fects the pre­mi­um?

  • The self-risk that you choose.  
  • The val­ue of the mo­bile home. 
  • Move­able prop­er­ties the be­longs to the mo­bile home and is in­clud­ed in the in­sur­ance.  
  • Wind storm pro­tec­tion – If you keep the mo­bile home in­side dur­ing the win­ter, you can re­duce the pre­mi­um by ex­clud­ing the wind storm pro­tec­tion be­tween Oc­to­ber 1st and April 30th.

How is the view?

  • Be­fore dri­ving off with the mo­bile home in tow, it's a good idea to check that the side mir­rors give you the view you need to mon­i­tor the traf­fic around you. If the mo­bile home is too wide for you to see be­hind it, it should have ex­ten­sions on the side mir­rors. 
Is the trail­er home too heavy?

  • It is easy to find out whether the car can han­dle the trail­er be­cause the car's reg­is­tra­tion cer­tifi­cate states how heavy the trail­er can be.  
  • If you can­not find this in­for­ma­tion, you can use the rule that the trail­er must not weigh more than half of the car's own weight.
